Are you our new Business Controller?
Do you understand the story behind the numbers - and can you help the business act on it?
We are looking for an experienced Business Controller who can connect financial performance with the operational and commercial developments behind it. You will take ownership of key reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes, work closely with leaders across the organisation and turn financial results into clear insights, priorities and actions.
The department “Analytics & Modelling” works across Momentum Energy Group and provides reporting, performance analyses and financial decision support to business units, senior management and the Board. You will join a small team of 3 with broad exposure across the organisation and play an important role in strengthening how Momentum understands, forecasts and manages its financial performance.
Momentum Energy Group develops, invests in, owns and operates renewable energy assets across Denmark, Germany and Sweden. We are one of Denmark's largest owners of onshore wind turbines, with activities spanning the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects and a development pipeline comprising wind, solar PV and hybrid projects through a clear growth agenda.
What are your tasks?
As a Business Controller, you will contribute to, deliver, and coordinate central parts of Momentum's performance management cycle. You will work closely with business unit leaders and Group Finance to understand developments in revenue, costs, and profitability while ensuring these drivers are reflected accurately in our reporting and outlook. You will be a trusted financial partner who combines a deep financial understanding with a strong and curious commercial perspective.
Your responsibilities will include:
- As part of a team delivering the monthly management reporting, including timeline management, inputs, quality assurance and financial commentary based on consolidated accounts received from Group Finance.
- Analysing monthly performance against budget, forecast and prior periods and explaining the underlying revenue, cost, and profitability drivers.
- Working closely with business unit leaders to understand operational and commercial developments and translate them into financial implications.
- Participating in budgeting and forecasting processes for relevant business areas, including assumptions, risks, opportunities and scenario analysis.
- Following up on budgets and forecasts with the business and ensuring that deviations, risks and required actions are identified and addressed.
- Developing and maintaining relevant financial and operational KPIs that provide transparency into business performance.
- Preparing business cases, profitability analyses and ad hoc decision support for commercial and operational initiatives.
Who are you?
You are an experienced and commercially minded finance professional who wants to understand and communicate how the business operates. You build strong working relationships across functions, but you are also comfortable challenging assumptions and conclusions constructively. You can move seamlessly between detailed financial analysis and discussions with senior stakeholders, translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
You are motivated by working in a developing organisation where the role will evolve over time, creating opportunities to take ownership of new tasks and areas of responsibility as the business matures.
Qualifications
- At least 5-7 years of relevant experience within business controlling, FP&A, performance management or a similar finance role.
- A relevant degree within finance, economics, accounting, business administration or a related field.
- Strong experience with management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- A solid understanding of financial statements and the interaction between operational performance, profitability, cash flow and the balance sheet.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, including proficiency in Excel.
- Experience preparing concise management presentations and communicating financial insights clearly to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- A proactive and independent approach, combined with strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional proficiency in Danish and English, both written and spoken.
